There are different servers for different interests, you can join a fashion channel, a channel for a video game, or just have a private group chat for you and your friends.

Discord is useful for professionals, and companies. Different companies use discord instead of emails. The companies have different channels for different branches of the company, for example, a channel for IT, a channel for the accountants, and a channel for all company announcements.

Discord can also be used in schools as a way to get help from teachers and other classmates outside of school. A teacher could create a server for a class with different channels for help on questions, announcements, and interesting resources that go along with the lessons.
